About Asali

Asali Desserts & Cafe is a Mediterranean bakery and cafe in Cary serving cakes, pastries, small plates, coffee, and tea, along with High Tea service and a catering and events business that covers weddings, private parties, and corporate orders.

About the role

This is a step off the floor for someone who already runs shifts and wants to take on the coordination side of the business. You will work alongside the owners and management team on catering orders, event logistics, scheduling, and the day-to-day paperwork that keeps the cafe running. It suits a shift lead or supervisor who is organized, comfortable with guests, and ready to own projects from start to finish.

What you'll do

Catering and events

  • Take catering inquiries by phone, email, and in person, and build and update orders
  • Coordinate order details with the kitchen and bakery so timelines are clear
  • Help set up rooms and event spaces, and load and unload the catering vehicle
  • Prepare event signage and order paperwork
 

Cafe and administrative support

 
  • Run reports for management and help build staff schedules
  • Maintain policy and procedure documents and cafe forms
  • Answer phones, greet guests, and handle questions and requests
  • Draft correspondence and help prepare for team meetings

What we're looking for

  • 1–3 years in a restaurant, cafe, or bakery, with time as a shift lead, supervisor, or key holder preferred
  • 1–2 years of catering coordination or event planning experience preferred
  • Administrative or office support experience preferred
  • Strong guest service skills on the phone, over email, and in person
  • Attention to detail and the ability to keep several orders and projects moving at once
  • Clear written and verbal communication, and a professional manner with guests and vendors
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, plus Google Calendar; QuickBooks a plus
  • Willingness to learn new systems
  • Valid driver's license preferred
  • Weekday and weekend availability; full-time preferred

Working conditions

  • Cafe and bakery environment, with time on your feet during service and events
  • Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds
  • Setting up and breaking down event spaces, and loading and unloading catering orders
